Configuration Manager

Position: Configuration Manager
Reports To: Service Transition Manager
Location: Dallas TX

Position Summary:

The Configuration Manager is responsible for maintaining information about configuration items that are required to deliver IT services. This position will maintain a logical model, containing the components of the IT infrastructure (CIs) and their association.

Qualifications Required:

  • ITIL V3 Certification
  • 5+ Years’ experience designing and executing Configuration Management processes
  • 5+ years’ applied knowledge and understanding of technical environments
  • 3+ Years’ Service Now CMDB Experience
  • Must be process driven, detail oriented and organized in both thought and practice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Qualifications Desired:

  • Must have a professional demeanor and be able to effectively work with internal and external customers, vendors and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle conflicting priorities
  • Excellent time managements skills
  • Experience with TCH technologies
  • Evidence of strong documentation skills
  • Project management and MS Office experience a plus

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Process, procedures, work instructions and tools are optimal from a departmental/section point of view
  • Ensures all new CIs are added to the database and are successfully being discovered  
  • Enters and reports (status) modifications to CIs resulting from their activities
  • Signals and reports any deviation detected in the IT infrastructure from the status and/or composition as registered in the CMDB
  • Define the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the process
  • Responsible for the deployment of the process. Evaluates performance metrics against the defined critical success factors and institutes actions to correct shortcomings or further streamline the process as necessary
  • Produces reports and Management information, including impact analysis reports and Configuration status report
  • Define and improve the audit process; Monitor and review the execution of periodic audits
  • Coordinates design work for CI discovery and other data import methods
  • Identifies opportunities and submits proposals for improvement with respect to tools, staff, training, process, procedures and work instructions

Performance Standards:

  • Performance is evaluated twice per year through a mid-year review and an annual review

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; primarily sitting long periods of time and typing on a computer
  • Work environment: Professional corporate office work environment
