Position: Security Guard - NC
Reports To: Director - Corporate Real Estate
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Position Summary:

The TCH Security Guard will control access to the facility, screen visitors and employees in an efficient manner in order to expedite their admittance to the facility. 

Candidate should be mature, collegial, self-motivated, extremely well-organized and detail-oriented, able to function under pressure and handle numerous tasks simultaneously. The position would be well-suited to a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is meticulous. S/he must be able to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently, as well as part of a team. 

Qualifications Required:

  • Must have a current or eligible for a State Security License
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be detail oriented and organized in both thought and practice 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have a professional demeanor and be able to effectively work with visitors and staff at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle conflicting priorities

Qualifications Desired:

  • Military/law enforcement experience preferred

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors entrances and exits
  • Prevents unapproved or unlawful entry
  • Controls entrances and exits, including the movement of people vehicles and parking (where applicable)
  • Operates a gate (in North Carolina)
  • Monitors remote entrances using closed circuit television
  • Operates remote access devices
  • In a calm manner, directs persons who cause a disturbance to leave the property 
  • Patrols assigned site on foot
  • Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems and unauthorized persons
  • Inspects buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear 
  • Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies or security investigations
  • Sets up barriers and signage and provides direction or information to others
  • Prepares logs/reports as required for post
  • Writes or types reports or enters information in a computer using standard grammar
  • Inspects security control logs and takes action as required 
  • Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to appropriate authority(ies)
  • Follows procedures to support incidents of fire, medical emergency,   bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, hazardous materials, inclement weather and other incidents or conditions 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Core Work Hours: Night Shift 7 pm– 7 am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with alternating Wednesdays
