Position Summary:

The role of the Senior Sales Engineer is to drive the sales and onboarding of banks and channel partners which are adopting The Clearing House (TCH)’s new Real Time Payments (RTP) platform and Secure Token Exchange (STE) service. The Senior Sales Engineer will execute technical support as part of the sales strategy for the platforms to develop appropriate solutions and building technical relationships with each potential partner.

  • During the sales process, the Senior Sales Engineer will work with the TCH Product Development team and TCH Operations & Technology team to address partner-specific requirements (e.g. product configuration, connectivity, and security, customizations)
  • The Senior Sales Engineer will work with the TCH Operations & Technology (O&T) teams as a key interface/ relationship manager to the bank and/or channel partner during the implementation, configuration, and testing of the STE platform

Qualifications Required:

  • Strong knowledge of various payment networks (e.g. credit card, debit, ACH) and processors as well as digital wallet providers and ecommerce merchants
  • Strong knowledge of core processing, settlement services, administrative services (e.g. reporting), value-added services (e.g. fraud management, tokenization), and connectivity options (e.g. MPLS, VPN) on bank payment applications/platforms, as well as familiarity of current payments regulations and banking standards (e.g. ISO 20022, ISO 8583)
  • Base knowledge of tokenization, information security, fraud and risk services
  • Relationships and implementation experience with  leading digital wallet implementations in the marketplace a plus
  • Proactive, self-starter who can multi-task, prioritize deliverables with minimal supervision, and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience working in the Financial Services/fintech and/or related technology industries
  • 5 years of experience working in technical sales, sales engineering, or technical consulting (implementation)


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serve in a consultative role to help Financial Institutions (FIs) and channel partners understand the implications and trade-offs of implementation options, explain the technical capabilities/limitations of the systems, and facilitate the decision-making process to select a platform connectivity option
  • Serve as a client facing resource to represent the features / functions and technical integration options for TCH new product offerings
  • Interface with business and technical managers at partner financial institutions to elicit implementation requirements, coordinate timelines, document scope requirements, and resolve issues related to onboarding
  • Coordinate with both the internal and external O&T organizations to get technical issues answered during the sales and onboarding process, including API/integration, technical infrastructure, and security discussions
  • Support FIs and channel partners with development and implementation planning
  • Serve as a product advocate for new technical products, through all stages of the pre-sales process, working with both internal and external Product teams
  • Document configuration / implementation requirements based on client specifications
  • Maintain current knowledge of TCH business operations, strategies, and existing technology products, services and capabilities with the capacity to explain these capabilities to a non-technical audience
  • Support the TCH Project Manager with client interactions as requested
  • Effectively communicate & build confidence with different potential client stakeholders (IT, Product, sales, executive management, etc.)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Travel required.
