Position: Vice President, Quality Control
Reports To: VP, Testing, Client Services and NOC
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Quality Control supervises and manages a consistent program of quality assurance for The Clearing House (TCH).  The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee all qualification efforts to ensure testing efforts are delivered on-schedule, reliable, with quality and in accordance with TCH standards.  Meet all requirements by defining and delivering efficient, effective and reusable test strategies.  These strategies will support automation, functional and performance testing for both agile and waterfall development methodologies.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • 10 years of software testing experience, 2 years management of a software testing organization
  • Experience leading a team testing Web GUI, message based applications and mainframe applications through manual and automated testing
  • Experience testing Linux based applications
  • Experience using the HP ALM / Quality Center tools
  • Experience with test automation tools such as UFT, Groovy, Java, Gradle, Spoke and Selenium
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent testing efforts

Qualifications Desired:

  • Understanding of Financial messaging protocols such as ISO 20022
  • Management of a team of 4 or more employees
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment such as credit card or financial services
  • Project Management experience
  • Familiarity with resource management tools such as Clarity a plus

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall qualification effort of a software product or system, including test approach, test planning, test scripting, test execution, defect management, testing results documentation, test data management, timeliness, status reporting, and quality control resource management, for assigned efforts
  • Manage the work efforts of Quality Control resources ensuring work is completed on schedule and that they meet TCH standards
  • Develop estimates and staffing allocations for assigned potential work efforts
  • Forecast and budgeting for department financials
  • Coordinate with other technology departments such as the EPMO, Development, DBA, Networking, Systems Support, IT Security, Change Control, and Operations to update and transfer assignments accurately and in a timely manner, utilizing the approved Change Control system and processes
  • Prioritize multiple assigned work streams to best optimize resources, completion dates, and equipment
  • Participate or allocate resources to support the research and resolution of production incidents in a timely manner
  • Prepare written goal sheet and performance reviews for staff assigned, provide staff mentoring, coaching, and general personnel management
  • Coordinate the QC team to provide production installation, contingency testing, and issue support to Operations and TCH customers as requested, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking
  • The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available 
  • Ability to work extended hours and accommodate requests to travel between TCH offices and possibly vendors
