We Get Questions...

Q.) Should we use return code R10 or R11 if a company debited our member’s account two separate times and the member only authorized one ACH debit?

A.) Prior to April 1st, R10 is the correct return code to use. Remember, the repurposed R11 return code should not be used until that time. On April 1st, the new return titles will become effective:

R10 – Customer Advises Originator is Not Known to Receiver and/or Originator is Not Authorized by Receiver to Debit Receivers Account
R11 – Customer advises entry not in accordance with the terms of the agreement

Impact of COVID-19 on In-Person Training Hosted by The Clearing House

With intensifying concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and uncertainty around its spread, we are fielding more calls from our members about the status of TCHPA scheduled in-person workshops and meetings. We have been closely monitoring the situation and are following the advice of local health authorities, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and others.

Several in-person sessions scheduled for March and April have already been cancelled and those who were registered for these events have been notified. We are currently evaluating our options and will likely replace these face-to-face sessions with live and/or recorded webinars, which will be added to our website when we have firm dates, and also promoted in the next edition of the Payments Pulse newsletter.

TCHPA Tuition Scholarship for The Payments Institute

NACHA's 2020 TPI offers areas of study geared for those preparing for the AAP Exam and seasoned payments professionals alike. Additional information (brochure, curriculum, registration, etc.).

Scholarship
The Clearing House Payments Authority (TCHPA) will award a 2020 tuition scholarship ($2300 value) to one lucky member. If interested, please send an email to education.services@theclearinghouse.org by close of business on Friday, May 1st and include the following information:

Attendee name, title and organization name
Number of years in the payments industry and the various positions held (operations, sales, branch)
Email and phone number
A brief description of why you feel you are the best candidate to be awarded the scholarship (100 words or less)

The winning application will be selected from those who apply according to the instructions above. Entries must be submitted by 5:00pm ET on Friday, May 1st. Winners will be notified by May15th. Lodging and travel will be at winner’s expense. Please seek manager's approval prior to submitting your application email.
