Director, RTP Product Management

Position: Director, RTP Product Management
Reports To: SVP Product Development
Location: New York, NY or Dallas TX

Position Summary:

This role will actively manage and support the business development, onboarding, product adoption and usage of the Real Time Payments System by banks and their end users. Specific areas of responsibility will include direct product oversight and ownership for the Zelle over RTP product set, support for go to market activities involving TCH document repository service. The candidate will work directly with banks, as well as corporate clients and technology providers as appropriate, to introduce them to RTP, work with them through the onboarding process for the products or services that they will manage, and assist with use cases and product ideation.  Management, oversight and leadership of working groups, sub-committees and pilot/proof of concept activities will be critical responsibilities.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field
  • 3-5 years of Product Management leadership experience planning, developing, and supporting product offerings preferably in the payments space
  • Knowledge of and preferably “hands on” experience with EWS and the Zelle platform
  • Experience working with and managing key vendors and outsourced relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in business, operational and technical environments
  • Strong presentation skills for both internal and external (bank, end user and industry) audiences
  • Ability to evaluate complex business problems with a practical understanding of business, production and technical viability and readiness
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team

Qualifications Desired:

  •  M.B.A. or B.A. with relevant work experience
  • 5 years’ experience in financial services, payments
  • Experience launching and bringing new products to market
  • Experience with payment products, operations, and technology
  • Experience in commercial or retail banking with emphasis on Digital Channels
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 payment standards, or other financial messaging standard
  • Working knowledge of the payments industry and state of consumer and business payments
  • Direct experience with implementation of RTP at a financial institution or third-party service provider

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Define strategy and maintain a strategic product roadmap for assigned products and services
  • Provide all necessary onboarding assistance and maintain a high degree of operational readiness across the assigned portfolio of products and services. Track and document all learnings
  • Document and assess any potential product development requirements resulting from client discussions
  • Work directly with banks, corporate users and vendors (as required) to promote RTP adoption and usage
  • Contribute to planning, design & delivery of pilots/proofs of concept  for new TCH RTP product initiatives 
  • Analyze and evaluate key industry partnerships that may assist in the delivery of future market solutions 
  • Track and evaluate the competitive landscape and relevant industry trends around faster payments 
  • Manage or support specific topic related Committees and Working Groups involving multiple banks
  • Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert on RTP use cases and functionality

Performance Standards:

  • Annual IPP and attain goals established between supervisor and incumbent
  • Timely and accurate completion of all deliverables and feedback from banks and internal units
  • Adherence to management instruction and performance expectations including essential functions and success factors as described above
 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
