Position: Technical Specialist, Platform Support
Reports To: Platform Support Manager
Location: Dallas TX or Winston-Salem, NC

Position Summary:

The Technical Specialist will play a vital technical role in the technology team responsible for the TCH payment platforms. This role covers a range of support functions associated with the day-to-day operations of a 24/7 high availability, high security financial transaction processing platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with supporting high availability, distributed online transaction processing applications using JAVA/JEE, WebSphere, Linus, REST/JSON, Web Api(s), DB2 (or other Relational Databases), ISO 20022, ISO 8583 or other financial messaging standards. 

Prior experience working with Payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX), commercial or retail banking with emphasis on Digital Channels, Tokenization techniques, implementation of RTP at a financial institution or third-party service provider is desirable.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in development and support of distributed financial services transaction processing platforms
  • A solid understanding of distributed client server architecture
  • Considerable hands-on experience with JAVA server side technology and J2EE App server preferably WebSphere
  • Experience with payment products, operations, and technology
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX / LINUX commands, shell scripting and database queries (e.g. for troubleshooting as well as data patching)
  • Strong knowledge of relational database (DB2 preferred) 
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and act as an application SME
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed
  • Must be a strong team player
  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications Desired:

  • Prior experience in credit card processing applications,  digital wallets, emerging payments, mobile payments, NFC ecosystem, payment networks,  (Visa/MC/Amex/Discover) 
  • Prior Experience with payment products, operations, and technology
  • Experience with tokenization, cryptography, HSM(s) 
  • Knowledge of and experience with PCI / DSS standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience in use of testing tools (SOAPUI, Gradle, Rational, etc)
  • Experience in integrating vendor products
  • Vendor management experience

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as SME on functional and technical aspects of the Payments platform
  • Engage with technical teams at our client banks, E-Wallets and payment networks to develop technical solution design for integration projects
  • Develop technical specifications for software vendor in development of new functions and features 
  • Take acceptance of software from vendor; coordinate the deployment of software on TCH internal infrastructure; configure the software per project requirements  
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance to ensure quality of software deliverables
  • Provide Level 3 support by assisting support teams in troubleshooting production issues and engage/escalate to vendor as necessary
  • Develop implementation/roll-out strategy for new releases  
  • Occasionally design and develop ad-hoc shell scripts, database patches, reports, etc. (large scale in-house software development is not anticipated) 
  • Assist Project Management in assessing project sizing and timelines
  • Triage, troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues on a complex mission critical application
  • Perform root cause analysis of issues
  • Responsible for analyzing systems/processes and recommending changes to improve processing efficiency
  • Develop run-books for recurring issues, system implementation, shutdown and recovery
  • Support release implementation, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and disaster recovery testing

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
