Supervision and Enforcement

TCH shares with the banking agencies and other U.S. and global regulatory authorities the common objective of maintaining strong compliance programs at financial institutions including policies, procedures and controls reasonably designed to achieve compliance with applicable laws and regulations and prevent customer harm. TCH regularly sponsors conferences and meetings intended to promote and support effective compliance. TCH convenes thought leaders in the area to discuss heightened supervisory scrutiny of bank compliance, the trend to increasingly merge ethics and compliance, and to place more responsibility on the compliance function. TCH contributes to the debate in the area through comment letters, white papers and presentations on such issues as the relationship between compliance issues and bank safety and soundness ratings and so-called “regulation by supervision” where regulatory expectations may be directed through examiners.
