Q.) We received a warrant from the U.S. Secret Service requesting a return of funds from our member’s account. There are not enough funds in the account to return the ACH credit in question. How can I return a partial payment through the ACH?
A.) If you receive a request to return partial funds, you will need to work directly with the requesting agency to return the amount in question. Returns processed through the ACH are intended to be a full return of the original entry. Alternate options may include check, wire transfer, or origination of a new ACH credit for the (partial) amount being returned.
